Professor Sharifah Hapsah opened the forum with remarks in her capacity as NCWO President. The programme brought together NCWO, the United Nations, government representatives, civil society and other stakeholders to discuss gender equality and women’s empowerment within the Malaysia MADANI framework.

The forum examined women’s rights, discrimination, institutional reform, women’s agency and the importance of protecting previously achieved gains in gender equality.
